Q: Greg, I have a 1956 Ford F350 V8 pickup Custom Cab Dually. It has the 8-foot bed and I want to restore it.
Where do I find bumpers, glass, fenders and other pieces?
Could you tell me how many dually models were made and how much it would be worth? Thank you, Malaci Jack, Houston.
A: Malaci, I'd go out and purchase a copy of Hemmings Motor News and you'll find most of what you are looking for inside the magazine. If you have access to a computer and Internet connection, try and also look on eBay for items you might need.
They pop up on eBay all the time, and I just checked and it's loaded with the new glass you are looking for.
As for how many dually trucks were made in 1956, I don't have that information handy but can pass on that 184,154 Ford F-100 pickups were built that year. It was also the first year Ford utilized the wraparound front windshield.
I've yet to see a 1956 Ford F350 Dually driving down the highway, so you have a rare piece on your hands.
Redesigned for 1953, the F-Series Ford pickups acquired its now familiar names: The F-1 became F-100, F-2 became F-250, and the F-3 became the 1-ton F-350. Some interior amenities were added, including a dome light, arm rests, lighter, and sun visors.
Good luck with the rebuild, and I'll admit that the 1956 Ford is one of my favorites. I'd say it will be worth some nice money when you are finished, as regular F-100 pickups go for $5,000, $9,600, $14,000, and $18,000 in classifications fair, good, excellent and show, respectively.
