Rare 1937 Pontiac

Q: Greg, I own a 1937 Pontiac 2 door sedan Silver Steak 6-cylinder. Would you please give me the approximate value? The car was built at the General Motors' plant in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and is one of the last ones to be produced out of 1800 of this car. The car is all-original, including paint, upholstery, and running gear. It was built with a 223 cubic inch 6-cylinder with overhead valves, all knee action front end for ride, and has a 3-speed transmission with a floor shifter. The car has been stored indoors all its life and has 36,000 original miles on it. Car is road worthy and drivable and is collector or vintage palatable. The body is rust free as far I can see from the service of the body. I also have the dealer's sales catalog for that car and a factory specification sheet. I have included some pictures of the car. I would like to know this information as I 'm going to sell it. Thank You, Keith R., Penticton, B. C., Canada.

A: Keith, nice car you have there! It is also good that you have the catalog and manufacturer build specification sheet, as this does add some extra value to the car. An original 6-cylinder Pontiac like yours would easily go for $10,000 to $12,800 if it were as nice as you say. If you can impress a Pontiac collector with its truly original flavor and excellent condition, then $14,500 would be the top number. I looked up '37 Pontiacs in some of my collector magazines, websites and auction sheets, and they are doing some nice numbers. By the way, the V8 series of '37 and '38 Pontiacs adds another $1,500 to the value just for your information, while a Woody ‘37 Pontiac restored can bring as much as $40,000. Good luck with the Pontiac.
