Kalamazoo Swap Meet

John Pizzo
Hello once again readers and welcome to another great issue of PIZZO’S Petroliana.

In February, Scooter and I went to the Kalamazoo Fairgrounds for the KAARC auto parts and memorabilia swap meet. While the crowds were plentiful on Saturday the "stuff" was as well. I had a booth of my own set up to sell things. There was a lot to look at and to buy, unfortunately I left my camera at home so I didn't take any pictures. The ones here are of the things I managed to find that were gas and oil.

This show is one of the first swap meets I go to, to kick off the swap meet season. This is a good one to go to and see what the general automotive and transportation parts and collectibles are selling for.

The group that has this show every year is the Kalamazoo Antique Auto Restorers Club (KAARC) and they have been doing this show for 52 years. This show only allows transportation related items. Their motto is “this ain't no flea market" and true to that motto, anyone that is selling things not related to transportation items are told to leave and not return.

One vendor said this when asked about sales, "I have had many people stop and look as well as buy, most of the things I sold were extra parts I had for my projects over the years. Like with any two day swap meet, the first day is always the best for sales."

I also asked an attendee what they thought of the swap and this is what they said, "It's a great swap meet to go to because you never know what you might find and most of the vendors are friendly."

The things I found at the show are some very good items that I've been on the search for. If anyone is in need of original parts and great collectibles, this is a good one to come to.
