IN MEMORY OF LARRY DETJEN
This 1970 Challenger R/T was built October 1969. First driven by a factory representative, Mr. Decker. Then it went to his kids who used it until 1974, then parked. The car was donated by the Decker family to a local Deputy Woodward of Marathon County, Wisconsin. It was then made into a look-a-like race car for Larry Detjen, uncle to NASCAR Scott Wimmer. This car has been at a local track driven by Dave Marcis NASCAR #71. Larry Detjens Memorial Race was started in 1981, which pays tribute to one of the greatest short track racers of his time. Detjens, a former Wausau short track racing star and 1977 track champion lost his life in a racing accident in 1981 at Wisconsin International Raceway. Information and picture sent with the permission of the Detjen family, Margo, Larry’s daughter, grandson, Conrad Lemmer, nephew, Scott & Chris Wimmer and friend Bob Dalsky.
