In the mid-1960s, Mopar madness was in full swing. The chief draw was the potent powerplant choices they had on the menu, which included the massive 440 V8. As anyone who has driven a car so-equipped can tell you, the 440 had no problem painting the road with rubber as it pinned the passengers to their seats. Here we have a 1966 Plymouth Satellite convertible that started life as a 318 car but now boasts no less than a 440 with a triple two-barrel carb setup. The cherry on the sundae is the .....
4-speed stick that makes driving this beautiful beast even more fun. The body is as nice as could be, with its rock-solid panels covered in gorgeous factory correct Light Blue Poly paint. The various chrome and stainless-steel trim pieces are likewise in nice condition as is the white convertible top. A set of Magnum 500-style wheels wearing BF Goodrich Radial T/As adds the perfect finishing touch. The underside is also impressively solid. Inside, rather than a boring bench seat there are the Satellite's standard factory buckets and console. The latter houses the shifter and features a tachometer. Everything from the dash top to the door panels and seats looks minty fresh and the original AM radio remains in the dash. Pop the hood and you're looking at 440 cubic inches of pure muscle. In addition to the aforementioned 6-barrel carb setup, this 440 features a performance cam as well as a set of headers and dual exhausts with chrome tips that sounds awesome. Power steering and manual brakes (with an upgraded dual-master cylinder) complete the mechanical specs. Out on the road, the super Satellite runs smooth and strong, and running it up and down the gears never gets old. The power steering makes short work of wheeling the car around, and the manual brakes are easy to modulate. This pristine Plymouth has it all -- condition, power and looks -- and is ready to thrill its next owner. It really must be seen, heard and driven to be believed.
