The 1965 Corvette continued on the success of the mid-year String Ray with subtle changes. The hood vents were removed, the trio of fender vents now effectively reduced engine heat and the wheel covers were redesigned. New for 1965 was a 396ci/425hp big block that essentially replaced the more expensive 327ci/375hp Fuel Injected motor. Also new were standard 4-wheel disc brakes that improved braking considerably along with extended longevity. It proved to be a successful year and Chevrolet .....

The engine was rebuilt still utilizing its factory Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetor, cast intake manifold, stock heads fitted with 7-ribbed aluminum valve covers, all ignition shielding is present along with period-correct tower hose clamps, correct 65A-stamped Harrison aluminum radiator and overflow tank, Delco-Remy 1111076 distributor, and manifolds feeding the new side mounted exhaust system. Western Wheel cast aluminum knock-off wheels are properly pinned and were recently fitted with new tires in July 2023. It was lovingly restored in frame-on fashion and continues to be a nice blend of original and restored, making for a high-quality driver and confident show car that can be enjoyed.
