If you may know that three years prior to socks his partnership with Martin, he was partnered with Jack Ashley. Jack was a successful businessman in Burlington North Carolina with knowledge of the racing world and great promotional skills
In 1960 he teamed up with Socks and won 39 of 40 races. Due to their great success they were known as the Untouchables and were able to acquire the very first 1961 Pontiac super duty.
This car was shipped from Pontiac to Ray Nichel's engineering in Highland Indiana to be prepped for racing and then shipped to Hughes Pontiac in Burlington North Carolina where Socks and Ashley took possession. Years later the 1961 Pontiac ended up in the hands of the former president of Penske racing and is now for sale by the current owner
This car has undergone a full nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. This is the earliest Ronnie Sox race car in existence.
