That year marked the last for the 283 V8 in a Corvette, a peppy performer that was known for punching well above its weight. It also marked the last year of the available contrasting bodyside coves which were outlined in chrome and painted Silver or White color to contrast with the car's main body color. The eye-catching color scheme of Ermine white with Silver coves is hard to beat, and both the paint and the various bright (chrome and stainless steel) components, shine brilliantly. It's topped of with a new black soft top (including the weather-stripping) that has the best window-to-top seal we've yet seen in a C1. A set of Coker Classic wide whitewall radials wearing correct spinner style wheel covers finish off the car's massive curb appeal. Underneath, the Corvette is rock solid as well. Inside, it is all-new and immaculate, with everything from the dash pad to the crisp black upholstery on down to the carpet looking as if the car just drove out of 1961. The rare power windows were fully rebuilt and work great, while the complete wiring harness was replaced. The 6,500 rpm redline on the tach makes us think this Corvette was originally equipped with one of the higher-horsepower 283 V8s, though we can't say for sure. An aftermarket Wonderbar-style radio features AM/FM and Bluetooth capabilities for hands-free cell phone use. Under the hood is a non-original but period-correct and completely rebuilt 283 4-barrel V8. A performance cam adds a little more kick and that small block is paired up with a rebuilt and smooth-shifting 4-speed manual gearbox that sends the power to the pavement via a 3.36 rear end. Underway, this classic Corvette runs, drives and, thanks to the new dual exhaust system, sounds awesome. Note that the car is just getting broken in with only about 200 miles on it since the complete powertrain rebuild.
