1929 Ford Model A Phaeton
After producing 17 million units by 1927 the Ford Motor Company needed a change. Henry Ford was constantly looking towards the future and hoped to improve the design and construction of his successful Model T. Under the eye of Henry's son, Edsel, the cars were redone with new aesthetics that brought a lot of attention from the public. They restarted the alphabet, naming it the Model A, and quickly orders began rolling in. In fact, once unveiled they quickly .....
fell behind on production due to the publics desire. There were a few body styles available but one of the most unique was the Phaeton. This 1929 is one of those Phaetons meaning it has a large convertible top. The name comes from the open 4 wheel horse drawn carriages of the 18th and 19th century. This '29 is in good condition and painted in a two tone Yellow with Black fenders. Brown paint with a pinstripe runs the length of the upper body line. The White convertible soft top is in good condition and raises/lowers easily. These cars were meant to be open air roadsters so there are no side windows but the glass front windshield is in good shape and does push out like they did originally. It wears its original bumpers with its factory style split rear bumper to give easy access to the original spare. The car rides on painted to match Yellow spoke wheels and the tires are in good shape.
Powering the car down the road is a new rebuilt 200.5ci inline 4 cylinder motor. It runs well and the car is still 6 volt but has been upgraded with an alternator. Backing that is a 3 speed manual transmission and all the other mechanical components are stock.
The interior features Brown upholstery that is in good condition. Model A's are notoriously small on the inside but being a Phaeton this one is much more roomy. These cars featured dual bench seats and the steel on the back of the front seat was a unique design to divide the front and rear compartments. The Yellow and Black painted dash has the original style chrome gauge cluster with 3,933 miles showing on the odometer. It has the stock pedal set up and in front of the driver sits the factory 4 spoke steering wheel.
This Phaeton is a really neat car that would be perfect for local cruise ins and parades.
Take it home for $24,500.00!
