Tioga Downs Casino Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show

 

It’s becoming pretty clear that trucks in all shapes and sizes are making a major dent in the turnout of vehicles that attend the yearly Tioga Downs Casino car, truck and motorcycle show. This past September, a huge turnout showed up for a day of fun-filled music, enthusiast bench racing, and collector car and truck good-natured “one-upmanship.”

Noticeable is that perhaps half of the trucks that made the scene are still pretty much stock, while other collector trucks feature modern day drivetrains thanks to the easier transformations that crate engines and transmissions offer the modern day hobbyist. From beautiful 1959 Ford F-100s to Chevy 3100s and Dodge Pickups, just about every type of pickup or panel wagon made the scene. Here are a few photos of some of the outstanding vehicles that attended the yearly event. 

 

    

Carter Dengler from Waverly, NY brought his beautiful 1953 Ford F-100 Panel Truck to the show, complete with a modern V8 Crate motor and transmission. The engine bay (see photo) featured a fuel injected Ford crate engine and was as clean as the two-tone black and silver exterior.

 

 

Finished in an all flat-black paint was Terry Decker’s 1954 Dodge Pickup from Candor, NY. Even back in the 1950s, it was Dodge, Chevy and Ford as the main sellers, although much competition was received from Studebaker, International and Jeep, too.

 

 

Bob Crown brought his gorgeous 1951 Chevy Pickup series 3100 for everyone to enjoy. These early model Chevy designs are very popular with collectors these days. Crown hails from Newark Valley, NY.

 

 

No, you’re not seeing double. Joe Nichols drove his Pennsylvania-based 1948 Chevy 3100 Series pickup to the show. The pickup looks similar to Bob Crown’s beauty, although Nichols’ pickup features a deeper blue metallic paint.

 

   

One of the nicest pickups at the show came from Elmira, NY in the form of a 1959 Ford F-100 finished in a two-tone turquoise and white. Owned by Larry and Kathy Campbell, it was one of the most popular trucks at the Tioga Downs Casino show. The rear end is customized and includes special chrome step-bumper treatment and full bed cover in matching white.
