Ringbrothers Cry UNKLThe Ringbrothers crew (Mike and Jim) from Wisconsin churn out some awesome builds and I can't wait to see their creativity and workmanship. Most recently I have reported on a 1971 Chevy Blazer they debuted at the SEMA Show in 2018 (February 2019 issue of Truck Round-Up). And before that they worked on a 1948 Cadillac and yep even a 1972Winnebago that we wrote about (and drooled over)!
Well they outdid themselves by bringing out this 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 "UNKL" to the 2019 SEMA Show. They sedately widened the body two inches and slammed a 520 CI engine under the hood to produce an estimated 700 horsepower using an old school Holley Carburetor. A tweaked Tremec six speed transmission takes it from there. With that wide body they had room for some wicked scoops on the side panels plus of course wider tires. They continued the race look by slapping on an adjustable front spoiler. Since it was sitting pretty in the Flowmaster booth at SEMA, of course it had to have a Flowmaster 44 stainless steel exhaust.
They laid down a custom paint, named Big Boss Blue, and blended in some carbon fiber with the stock body panels. But they complimented the blue with splotches of yellow including the brake calipers and the instrument gauges. The yellow continues with the inset yellow fog lights in the front grill. Of course you'd expect some custom pieces to come out of the shop like the billet taillights and the reshaped bumpers. They brought over Detroit Speed Engineering's front suspension pieces and used from the same folks their QUADRALink suspension for the rear. Ride Tech shocks keep things smooth and stable while Baer brakes bring it the whoa.
They kept the race car theme working in the interior with Recaro seats and a gazillion toggle switches. The exterior graphics may be a bit much for some but it adds to the racing style. Now that it is released to the public and the owner, here's hoping they get the chance to track the car and see how it performs.
