ever. The Town Car has seen 3 generations produced starting in 1980 and ending in 2011. Only moderate changes have been made over the years and Lincoln has continually improved and utilized the latest technology for safety and convenience.
Lincoln's 3rd generation Town Car debuted for sale in 1998 and saw the end of the straight-lined design that had given the Town Car its boxy look for many years in favor of a more rounded appearance. The suspension and steering were updated, and the Town Car now featured a rack-and-pinion set-up which greatly improved its handling and added to its superior ride quality. The interior was restyled with wood trim on the dashboard and door panels. Also added for the last generation was ultrasonic park assist which included 2 rear sensors and a more fuel efficient 4.6-liter OHV V8.
