There is simply nothing better than a low-mileage collector car that features many original and correct components. And when it comes to collector cars, it's hard to beat a second-generation Corvette! This striking 1965 Sting Ray convertible is a highly original survivor that, according to its odometer, traveled only 48,226 miles in roughly 60 years.
From 1972 to 2022, this choice Chevy was parked safely in storage, maintaining its factory-correct charm while values of mid-year Vettes .....
started to skyrocket. The car's casual preservation is immediately evident as soon as its correct, and fresh, Rally Red paint rolls into the sunlight. Original steel wheels spin ornate covers inside vintage 6.70-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewalls. And lightweight doors float resealed power windows around an exceptional factory interior that, original all the way down to its date-correct floor mats, was recently enhanced with fresh seat covers.
The standard Corvette engine for 1965 was a 327 cubic inch V8 but, as you can clearly see, this is no standard Corvette! One available engine upgrade was this drop-top's impressive L75 327, which was rated at 300 horsepower straight from the factory. Naturally, that mill is a numbers-matching piece that's believed to be original to the car and, even better, fully rebuilt shortly before the car was brought in for sale, to ensure another 60 years of carefree cruising. When the original, rebuilt starter fires the small block to life, a fully rebuilt carburetor joins fresh wires to build power for a fresh clutch and throwout bearing, which kicks a numbers-matching Muncie M20 4-speed that's been fully checked and serviced. A rebuilt master cylinder charges new calipers, which cinch fresh pads at the sides of a rebuilt emergency brake assembly. Fresh tailpipes frame a fully serviced differential. A new core support centers a modern aluminum radiator in front of fresh hoses. And speaking of radiators, the car's original Harrison radiator is available for purchase along with its original water pump, original Delco plug wires, original spare wheel and tire, and it's original Packard radio.
