Description
One of the most readily recognized cars of the 1960s, thanks in part to countless appearances in films and on television, Jaguar's seminal MKII saloon set the standard for the class throughout its entire production life and today remains highly prized by enthusiasts. This handsome 1962 Jaguar MK II Saloon is a fine example of why these cars are so coveted.

Introduced in October 1959, the MKII replaced the MKI, the Coventry firm's first unitary construction saloon car. Closely related .....
to its immediate predecessor albeit extensively revised, the MKII offered better all-round visibility courtesy of larger windows while the MK1's rear wheel spats disappeared and the rear track was widened, improving both roll-resistance and stability. The dashboard was redesigned with the speedometer and rev counter relocated in front of the driver, the six toggle switches and four minor gauges being set across the center. Independent front suspension was by wishbone and coil springs, with a leaf-sprung live axle at the rear. This, combined with superior Dunlop disc brakes all round and a choice of 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8-liter XK engines, provided the discerning, string-back gloved, enthusiast driver with one of the finest sports saloons available in the 1960s.

Affectionally known as ""Edward"", this MK II 3.4 was purchased new by Dr. Ben Calloway Jones lll in Germany from Jaguar distributor Peter Lindner and was issued German license plate number G-4955. Dr. Calloway brought his Jaguar back to the United States where he used the car in Virginia and Washington D.C. before moving to Austin, Texas. In May 1972 the car was placed in storage after being driven 61,406 miles. It remained in storage for over three decades before it was acquired by a collector in 2004 in Florida who began restoring it. In 2007 it was purchased by California collector who finished the restoration and subsequently sold it to its current owner who has maintained and enjoyed this classic Jaguar to this day. The current owner has upgraded the car with a rack and pinion power steering conversion, new suspension and Spax shock absorbers.

Finished strikingly in Royal Blue and Silver paint, this rare machine features driving lights and chrome Dayton wire wheels wrapped with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires to create an elegant and sporting look. The restored interior looks just as a proper vintage Jaguar should, replete with sumptuous upholstery, burled wood dash and trim, Smiths gauges, RetroAir air conditioning, upgraded modern retro-style radio with Bluetooth and a beautiful Derrington wood-rimmed steering wheel. Its smooth-running 3.4-liter engine, 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive, 4-wheel disc brakes and upgraded steering system make this classic Jaguar an absolute pleasure to drive.
