One of the earliest 190 SL examples built.
Upgraded to SLR specs by Mercedes-Benz Classic Center - deleted bumpers, factory cut down aluminum doors, hood with scoop, roll bar, radio and heat delete, side exhaust, cut windscreen.
Only 7 190SLR's were built by Mercedes Benz for racing and none survived. A limited number of .....
conversion parts were also produced and this project started when those OEM parts were found. The Mercedes Benz Classic Center converted 3 190SL's into 190 SLR's. One resides in the Mercedes Benz museum in Germany and the third is in a private collection in Europe. Documentation from Mercedes Benz authenticating the car is included.
Originally delivered new to an individual in Germany, this 190 SL was completed in June 1955, making it one of the earliest 190 SL's to leave the factory. It now features a variety of components from the race-specification kit available in-period. The SLR conversion project began under a previous owner. Mercedes-Benz Classic Center acquired the vehicle in 2007 to further complete upgrades. The interior is finished in an attractive combination of Crème leather and 300 SL red tartan gabardine cloth. In addition, the engine compartment was restored to period-correct finish and function.
The dashboard is devoid of any ventilation controls or radio. Instead, the driver is treated to a set of clear, functional gauges and a Halda Speedpilot rally computer. Meanwhile, the cut windscreen and lightweight doors further add to the authentic competition driving experience. Accompanied by Halda Speedpilot rally computer and a black tonneau cover
This Mercedes-Benz has been part of a private collection stored in a climate-controlled facility.
Perfect for vintage track days, road rallies, or concours, this 190 SLR is a truly exceptional build of the iconic roadster.
