Description
This 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 is said to be the first of approximately 16 examples built between 1948 and 1950 with Touring “Aerlux” coupe coachwork featuring a plexiglass roof panel. Chassis 915649 was completed in late 1948 for delivery on December 30 to El Morocco nightclub proprietor John Perona, who brought it to the US and retained it until the late 1950s. It was then purchased by a New Jersey owner who disassembled it for a refurbishment that went unrealized as the car and parts were .....
instead placed in storage, where they remained after being gifted to the owner's son-in-law in 1982. In 2013, the project was purchased by a Slovakian owner who commissioned a multiyear refurbishment that included repairs to the Superleggera bodywork, a repaint in blue, a re-trim of the interior in gray leather, and an overhaul of the Super Sport 2,443cc DOHC inline-six. Following completion of the refurbishment, the car was purchased by its current owner in Czechia and was imported to the US by the selling dealer in 2023. Additional features include triple Weber carburetors, a column-shifted four-speed manual transmission, chrome 18” wire wheels, finned drum brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, and an Aster radio. This Super Sport Aerlux is now offered on dealer consignment in San Diego, California, with photos from the refurbishment and a Montana title.
